  • Scott is a Swiss brand (founded in the US in 1958, now headquartered in Givisanno, Switzerland) known for aggressive weight reduction. The 2015 Scott Scale RC was the first production hardtail under 900 g; the Addict RC is consistently among the lightest disc road frames. Scott's IMP (Integrated Molding Process) carbon layup is their in-house manufacturing standard
  • Road hierarchy: Addict (lightweight climbing, the flagship) → Foil (aero race) → Speedster (endurance/alloy). Unlike Trek and Merida, Scott's primary road bike is the lightweight Addict, not an aero bike — Foil is the aero option
  • Gravel: Gravel (the model is literally called 'Gravel'). Available in Addict Gravel (carbon, race) and Speedster Gravel (alloy, entry). 45 mm clearance on carbon, 40 mm on alloy
  • MTB: Scale (XC hardtail, the weight-king) → Spark (XC/trail full-suspension, 120 mm, twinloc) → Genius (trail/all-mountain, 150 mm) → Ransom (enduro, 180 mm). Scott pioneered the twinloc handlebar remote — one lever controls fork + shock + seatpost simultaneously

Road — Addict, Foil, Speedster

Addict RC: Scott's flagship lightweight road bike, consistently among the lightest disc frames (≈790 g on HMX-SL). The Addict is the bike of the DSM-Firmenich and Tudor pro teams. The defining feature is the one-piece Syncros cockpit (integrated bar+stem) and the aggressive race geometry. Scott's HMX-SL carbon is their highest-modulus layup — reserved for the Pro tier.

Foil RC: Scott's aero race bike. The Foil was one of the first aero road bikes (launched 2011) and is still competitive — the deep-section tube shapes and integrated cockpit keep it among the lowest-drag frames. Heavier than the Addict (950 g vs 790 g) but faster on flat stages. The Foil RC Pro uses HMX-SL; lower tiers use HMX.

Speedster: Scott's endurance/all-alloy road platform. The Speedster is the entry road bike — taller stack, shorter reach than the Addict, with an alloy frame. At ≈$1,500 with Shimano Tiagra, it's the cheapest way to get a proper drop-bar road bike from a major brand.

Scott road family. HMX-SL is the top carbon (lightest); HMX is mid; HMF is value carbon; alloy is entry.

Gravel — Addict Gravel and Speedster Gravel

Addict Gravel: Scott's carbon gravel bike, based on the Addict road frame with relaxed geometry and 45 mm tire clearance. Uses the Syncros integrated cockpit (same as the road Addict). The Addict Gravel is positioned as a gravel race bike — it's the bike of Scott's gravel pro team.

Speedster Gravel: the alloy entry gravel bike, 40 mm clearance, round cockpit. The cheapest way to get a Scott gravel bike.

Scott gravel family. Addict Gravel is carbon; Speedster Gravel is alloy. Both share the relaxed Addict geometry.

Mountain — Scale, Spark, Genius, Ransom

Scale RC: Scott's XC hardtail race bike, holder of the 'lightest production hardtail' title (≈899 g frame, HMX-SL). The Scale RC is the bike of multiple XC World Cup winners. The alloy and HMX-carbon Scale models are the volume sellers for recreational XC.

Spark: Scott's XC/trail full-suspension bike, 120-130 mm travel. The Spark RC (race) has 120/120; the Spark 900/910 (trail) has 130/120. Both use the twinloc remote to control the Nude shock (Scott's in-house shock design) and the fork simultaneously.

Genius: Scott's trail/all-mountain bike, 150 mm travel, MX wheels. The Genius is the 'one bike for everything trail' — capable of enduro-lite but efficient enough for all-day rides. Uses twinloc to switch between 'Descend', 'Trail', and 'Lockout' modes.

Ransom: Scott's enduro bike, 180/170 mm travel, MX. The Ransom is the gravity-focused bike — slack, long, with the twinloc switching between a firm climbing mode and a plush descending mode.

Scott MTB family. All full-suspension models use twinloc remote. Scale is hardtail; Spark/Genius/Ransom are full-suspension.

Twinloc — Scott's signature suspension control

Twinloc is Scott's handlebar remote that controls the fork, shock, AND dropper post (on models with one) from a single lever. The system has two or three positions: 'Descend' (fully open, full travel), 'Ride/Trail' (medium compression, sometimes reduced travel), and 'Lockout' (firm, for climbing).

On the Spark and Genius, twinloc controls the Nude shock — Scott's in-house shock that changes both compression damping AND travel in the 'Ride' position (not just damping). This is unique to Scott: the shock physically reduces travel (e.g., from 150 mm to 100 mm) in the middle mode, which steepens the geometry for climbing. No other brand offers travel-adjust on a handlebar remote.

Twinloc is controversial: some riders love the convenience (one lever for everything), others find the cable routing fiddly and prefer independent fork/shock control. Scott has kept twinloc on all full-suspension models despite the criticism, arguing that the integrated control is faster and more intuitive on the trail.
