ABOUT THIS JOURNAL
One ride, a way of seeing the world..
I'm Julian Cooper — a CS student, developer, and road cyclist based in Nanjing, China. Julian Rides is where I research, edit, and publish practical cycling guidance that helps riders make better decisions.
I track down the good stuff — gear reviews, training data, race analysis, and riding guides — summarize the key takeaways, and cut the noise. No "best X of 2026" filler, no affiliate spam.
My setup: a road bike on a SUNPEED Invincible frame, built up with a Shimano 105 12-speed hydraulic-disc groupset and a set of UPVINE C50 tubeless disc wheels. No on-bike power meter yet — I train indoors on a budget smart trainer that estimates my watts while I save up for the real thing.
Every piece starts from one simple question: does this actually make riding better?
