Why Bibs, Not Shorts
Regular cycling shorts rely on an elastic waistband to stay up. That band compresses your stomach, traps sweat, and rolls under when you bend to the bars. Compression and Muscle Support
Higher-end bibs use graduated compression through the thigh panels — tighter at the ankle (in long versions) or calf, looser at the quad. The evidence that this measurably reduces fatigue is mixed, but the subjective feel of a snug quad is part of why riders move upmarket.
