Why cyclists get back pain

Lower back pain affects up to 60% of recreational cyclists at some point. The body fixes — glutes, hip flexors, core

Hip flexor mobility: the cycling stroke never fully extends the hip — the leg flexes to about 110° at the top of the stroke but only extends to about 30° at the bottom. Years of riding (and sitting at a desk) leave the hip flexors shortened. Tight hip flexors tilt the pelvis forward (anterior tilt), which loads the lumbar facets and discs.
